My Favorite Food . . . How do you choose one?  Choosing a favorite food is difficult when you are a foodie!  After much consideration though, I would have to say my favorite food is my Angel hair pasta with meat sauce.  It is so simple and it is better the next day (if you have any left)!  You could also use this sauce on with regular spaghetti or your favorite pasta.  You could also use it to make a great pasta bake or Lasagna.  One of the reasons it is my favorite is because it is one of the first foods I made myself from scratch.  When I was about 12 years old, my mother let me plant a couple of tomato plants next to her roses in a raised bed.  We had a ton of tomatoes so I decided to make some homemade sauce. Unfortunately I do not currently have a garden so I do use canned tomatoes in winter.   Hope you like it!!!

Recipe type: Main Dish
Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
  • 1 Onion, Chopped
  • 3-4 Cloves Garlic, Chopped
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 28 ounce cans Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1½ Teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • ¼ Cup Fresh Parsley, Chopped more or less to taste
  • Salt to taste, I use about 1 Teaspoon plus a generous amount for the pasta water
  • 1 Pound of Angel Hair Pasta
Instructions
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large stock pot.
  2. Add in the chopped onion and saute until translucent.
  3. Add in the ground beef and cook until beef is no longer pink.
  4. Add in the garlic and cook 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the Italian seasoning, Parsley and salt.
  6. Let simmer while you cook the pasta. You could even get it ready in the morning put it in a slow cooker at this point and leave it going all day. If you use this method, don't add the salt and the fresh parsley until the last 15 - 20 minutes of cooking.
  7. Bring 5 - 6 quarts of water to a boil in a large stockpot and add a generous amount of salt.
  8. Add in the pasta and cook 4 - 5 minutes or until al dente.
  9. Serve a generous amount of meat sauce on the angel hair pasta. Serve with a nice salad and toasted garlic bread. Afiyet olsun!
