This past weekend my brother, my sister and I drove over to Atlanta to the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market. It was a dream come true for “foodies” like us. My sister discovered it while on the internet and wanted us to go and check it out. It is sad to say that we had to drive 2+ hours to find excellent quality produce and great international food items but it was well worth it. They have any kind of vegetable you could want. I felt like I was on a Food Network show set. One of the first things I spotted that I could not find in Alabama was celery root or kereviz. I had been wanting to make Kereviz Salatası (Celery Root Salad) but had not been able to find the celery root. The combination of the celery root, garlicky yogurt, walnuts and dill produce an amazing salad that you can add to your meze table. It also goes great with grilled Köfte. We never need an excuse to make Köfte but since I wanted to make this salad for my sister, I had to go ahead and make the Köfte as well. There is only one problem now. . . she loved this salad! This means we will be making more frequent trips to Atlanta.
While we were in Atlanta we decided to visit our friends at Bakkal International to pick up some more items from the Turkish store. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the are only about 7 minutes away from each other. I highly recommend both places if you are in that area or if you are just crazy like us and will drive hours for good food.
