One of my favorite things we did on my birthday weekend was taking the fascinating tour of Jack Daniel’s Distillery on our way to the Country Living Fair. First of all, the grounds were gorgeous and beautifully kept. Everyone was so friendly, especially our tour guide Kim! She really knew everything about the Jack Daniel’s Distillery. You could tell she really loves her job. I don’t want to tell too much about the tour because then there would be no reason for you to go except for maybe the 5 little partial shots of Jack Daniel’s they give at the end of the tour. You do have to be 21 to go through the tour with the samples. It was a bargain to me costing only $13.25 each (including sample). I really loved hearing about Jack’s childhood (his real name is Jasper, by the way). Kim did such an excellent job of explaining how the whiskey is made. She told us all about the process to make the charcoal for filtering the whiskey, how the whiskey ferments, how it is stored, how it is graded, etc.. Another fun fact she told us was that Jack was only 5’2″ and wore a size 4 shoe. Size did not stop him from becoming a very successful man. I have some pictures to give you a general idea about the tour but do yourself a favor and plan a little day trip to Lynchburg, Tennessee. It will be worth the drive . . . I promise. Enjoy the pics and let me know if I can answer any questions you may have about the tours.
